Left ventricular morphology and function in rheumatoid arthritis patients without cardiac symptoms, using a cardiac magnetic resonance imaging
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) experience an excess risk of congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic inflammation plays a pivotal role in this increased risk. Despite the growing body of research on cardiovascular (CV) disease in RA, the key pathways underlying the development of abnormalities in myocardial structure and function associated with CHF remain obscure. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) has been used to identify early functional and structural changes in the left ventricle (LV) before development of clinically overt CHF. We evaluated LV function and structure using a CMR in RA patients (pts) without cardiac symptoms, and determined the impact of non-biologic DMARDs and biologic DMARDs.

The Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...
متن کاملDetection of left ventricular regional dysfunction using strain analysis by feature tracking of Cine MRI in rheumatoid arthritis patients without cardiac symptoms
Background In patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), cardiac involvement is common. This cardiac involvement may have serious consequences and can contribute to worsening of patient’s outcome. Cardiac MRI is a sensitive, noninvasive diagnostic techniques that can identify subclinical myocardial abnormalities. We sought to detect LV regional dysfunction by using a CMR approach in RA patients w...
متن کاملAssessment of Organ Specific Iron Overload in Transfusion-dependent Thalassemia by Magnetic Resonance Imaging Techniques
The consequence of repeated blood transfusions in thalassemia is iron overload in different organs. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a reliable, non-invasive and accurate method for iron detection in various tissues, hence the introduction of MRI has revolutionized the management of these patients and improved the life expectancy of them. Cardiac MRI T2* has a profound effect not only on est...
متن کاملRight ventricular Hemodynamic Alteration after Pulmonary Valve Replacement in Children with Congenital Heart Disease
Introduction: In patients who underwent surgery to repair Tetralogy of Fallot, right ventricular dilation from pulmonary regurgitation may be result in right ventricular failure, arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. Hence, pulmonary valve replacement may be necessary to reduce right ventricular volume overload. The aim of present study was to assess the effects of pulmonary valve replacement on rig...
متن کاملبررسی یافته های اکوکاردیو گرافیک قلبی در بیماران سیروز کبدی
Introduction: Cardiovascular abnormalities have been reported in liver cirrhosis (LC). In these patients, cardiac symptoms and physical signs occur as the liver functions worsen. Cirrhosis is associated with hyper dynamic circulation and beta-adrenergic system changes responsible for the cardiovascular abnormalities. The purpose of the present study was to explore the echocardiographic findi...
